Music & Trance by Gilbert Rouget
This book ranks very highly on my list of books to recommend to others on the subject of trance. In his Foreword, Rouget makes the same plea that I have desperately repeated and tried to answer in my own works. That plea is to the unification of terms amongst authors who write about the transcendental arts. This is an extremely important and all too often overlooked subject and I think that Rouget does a lot to explain the differences between the Ecstatic and Transcendental. Rouget focuses on the techniques and experiences of African trance cultures which fathered/mothered many well known trance spiritualities active in the world today.

A MUST READ for those interested in furthering their knowledge of trance. - Poisoned , posted 12/22/08
