I'm not a drummer. My husband is a drummer and does take lessons from Whit. Whit has encouraged him, trained him, laughed at/with him, but most of all, created a musician where only a geeky engineer previously lived. He is a miracle worker! You must meet Whit Whitten at some point in your life if hand-drumming and African percussion in particular are a passion for you. The drum call center is a must visit when in Charlottesville. Whit has one of the most peaceful, gentle yet protective and strong souls of any teacher I've met in the last 10 years. I admire his grace and ability, the wonderful playfulness of his style and the all encompassing embrace of his personality. A genuine man of peace and great humor.
